Frank Dupree and Vivi Vassileva perform Halo in Backnanger, Germany
Vivi Vassileva
& Frank Dupree
Face-to-Face
The best orchestras are fighting over her because she not only has talent, but also charm and charisma. Vivi Vassileva is the name of the young, energetic percussion virtuoso from Hof. She was a student of the legendary Peter Sadlo, a prizewinner at the ARD Music Competition and was honored with the Leonard Bernstein Award in 2023. But she not only enjoys performing as a soloist, but also as a chamber music partner. Like in this concert with the pianist Frank Dupree.
The title of their program Face to Face is inspired by the highly virtuoso compositions by Thierry Deleruyelle and Liu Heng, which are performed here. In their intensive interaction, the duo explores the color sounds and rhythmic landscapes in works by John Psathas, Jakob Gade and Aziza Mustafa Zadeh and explores the stirring and dreamlike worlds in Speaking Drums by Peter Eötvös and the famous jazz standard Spain by Chick Corea, which has very classical roots.
