Ya-Ting Liou performs Avenoir in Nelson
Taiwanese born pianist Ya-Ting Liou will delight us with a concert program encompassing standard repertoire and works by 20th and 21st century composers.
Programme will include works by Shostakovich, Beethoven, Chopin and John Psathas.
In Beethoven’s Eroica Variations, the composer displays his ingenuity in a set of 15 different versions of a theme he used in earlier works.
Chopin’s Nocturne will bring the audience into the composer’s world of reverie and fantasy.
Shostakovich’s Prelude and Fugue in D major is a tribute to J. S. Bach with a modern twist.
Mesmerising and rhythmically compelling Avenoir was written in 2021 by John Psathas, one of New Zealand’s leading composers
