Joey Roukens: Percussion Concerto

What appeals to Kalina Vladovska about percussion? The world of possibilities. Every percussion instrument is a new journey of discovery! The extremely versatile Percussion Concerto by Joey Roukens is therefore made for her. Drum set, tom tom, cowbell, congas, triangle, woodblock, cymbals... these are just a few of the thirty percussion instruments that appear in this composition for percussionist and large ensemble. In addition to this performance with the National Youth Orchestra conducted by Chloe Rooke, Kalina will perform a solo work for percussion.

In 2023 Kalina will be Young Artist in Residence of the Muziekzomer. The Bulgarian-born percussionist studied at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, is pursuing a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, is an Academician at Slagwerk Den Haag and is part of the Youth Percussion Pool. It is clear that Kalina is making her way as the young percussionist of this moment.
