Encore 2 (percussion sextet - from Between Zero and One)

for Percussion Sextet

Overview

One of the several encores from the concert-length show "Between Zero and One" created in collaboration with New Zealand's Strike Percussion.

Here's a playlist with the demos I created for most of the tracks....

The show Between Zero and One landed strongly with audiences. I wrote several encores, to match the audiences' appetite. My favourite of the three encores is this one (dubbed "Encore 2"). It was meant as a kind of 'goodnight', and lullaby for the audience. Strike gathered around the vibraphone, clapping, stomping and singing. I think it works well as a self-contained piece so decided to revive it and make it available on the store.

Some screenshots of the score in the photo gallery below. And my original midi demo is in the SoundCloud playlist above.

At just a little over 2 minutes - this lovely encore option for percussion ensembles (best described as a kind of primal goodnight lullaby for the audience), involves three players on one vibraphone, and another three clapping and stomping. All six hum in unison at times during the piece. No individual parts - the score is 4 pages. This piece originated in the large-scale project ‘Between Zero and One’ for NZ percussion group Strike.
