L'AQUILA The Signum Saxophone Quartet is anything but ordinary: this is what happens when an artistic relationship is born between school desks, strengthening and reinventing itself over the years. The school is that of Cologne in Germany where the four musicians met and founded Signum in 2006, immediately bringing out the charisma, the notable musical skills and the virtuosity of its members: Blaž Kemperle ( soprano sax), Jacopo Taddei (sax contralto), Alan Lužar (tenor sax) and Guerino Bellarosa (baritone sax).

The appointment, as part of the 78th season of the Società Aquilana dei Concerti “B. Barattelli” is for Sunday 4 February at the Park Auditorium starting at 6 pm.

The quartet's international debut was at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2013.

Their style represents a fusion between various musical genres in which the typical sounds of the classic string quartet combine with a great passion for the rock classics of our time.

In addition to concerts held across much of the globe and international recognition, the quartet also collaborates with great concert stars and has already released several albums, starting with 2021's Echoes , the first made with Deutsche Grammophon. The Signum Saxophone Quartet is a Selmer Paris and D'Addario Woodwinds artist. Very dear to the four musicians is the “SIGNUM4kids” project, which is specifically aimed at young music lovers and the public of tomorrow.

The concert program represents their eclecticism, crossing all eras and musical genres: from original compositions for sax quartet to arrangements of orchestral music, from the baroque repertoire to rock music. In fact, you will listen to pages by Brahms and Debussy together with the jazz of the contemporary French Fabien Lévy and the Greek-New Zealand composer John Psathas, up to the famous Suite de l'Ángel by Astor Piazzolla.

From the first minutes of each concert, the audience is drawn into the sparkling and emotionally rich sounds that the quartet manages to create, characterized by curiosity for musical experiences beyond all boundaries and the tireless search for the perfect ensemble sound .
